The steel for The Courthouse's new roof-top extension was completed this month, and the building is now watertight. It is a satisfying milestone for a conversion that has asked more questions than most: the 1934 former courthouse came with civic-scale rooms, awkward level changes and ninety years of alterations to unpick.
Where the scheme stands
- Roof-top extension structurally complete
- New windows installed to the front elevation
- First fix underway on the lower floors
- Show apartment planned for spring
The extension adds a storey of apartments with views towards Macclesfield Forest, and its zinc-clad profile deliberately steps back from the original parapet so the 1934 facade keeps the street.
